Whenever I have the opportunity, I stop at a service station or a small store to refresh my water and get ice if possible.
It was at one of these stops today while I was filling all my water bottles that I met Chris.
Chris is what I call a nomadic local. He liked the term so I can use it. Anyway, Chris is an artist and cyclist spending most of his time out in the dunes where he gets inspiration from the sunrise, sunsets, and ever-changing dunes. He is permitted to live on the dunes free of charge as long as he relocates every three or four months (I can't remember which, so am open to correction). This is to ensure that dune dwellers don't impact the ever-changing dune environment. Chris and folks like him who love and live in the dunes have four-wheel drive campers as their homes and change location regularly.
