Polanski, NY to Old Forge, NY
The route today took me East, away from Lake Ontario, heading to Vermont via the Adirondack Park. What a great day to ride - temps in the low 70's and the wind coming from a South to South Easterly direction. The undulating/hilly roads with a total of ~4700ft of climbing, helped prepare me for the Adirondacks ahead.
I was having problems with cell phone connectivity and signal strength. Eventually I managed to get in touch with Yvonne and asked her to find accommodation for me. She managed to find a great place in Old Forge (a town at the South Western point of the Fulton Chain Lakes, NY) at Pine Knoll Lakeside Lodging and Cabins.
Vicky and her husband, the owners, went out of their way to make me feel welcome. They even offered a spot in their private area for me to safely lock up my bike. They also gave me the names of restaurants in the area that do gluten free meals, something I am very grateful for.
