Hollands Cove, NY to Polanski, NY
Last night was a hectic night; I had very little sleep. It started off well. When I set up camp there was a light breeze blowing, with the soothing sound of the water from the beach and the marina.
Once the sun had set, I realized I had a problem. One of the security lights was shining right on my tent. I could not relocate to another spot, as there were none available. It wasn't too much of a hassle, I just hung my towel on that side of the tent, to dim the light. Not perfect, but much better! Problem solved, or so I thought. I had forgotten that this was Labor Day weekend. Around 10pm, a steady stream of weekenders, including several fisherman started arriving. Headlights from their vehicles shone on the tent. Then the noise began - voices, car doors slamming, and boats launching.
At around 4am, the regular fisherman started arriving to ready themselves and their boats for the days fishing. Oh well - a beautiful site, I just had an unfortunate location.
About 5 miles into the route, on the outskirts of Sodus, I saw a big farm stall and decided to check it out. On my way out of the parking lot, a guy came over to me and started to ask questions about the bike. He was about my age, and a keen cyclist. His doctor recommended that he find an alternative to his upright bike. We chatted for about 15 minutes, then he walked away happy with what he had seen and heard, and determined to do more research on trikes.
