Day 82 - Erie Canalway Trail NY & NY Rt5 Bicycle Route - September 1st

Brockport, NY to Hollands Cove, NY

Before joining the trail, I stopped for a bio break at a McDonald's in Spencerport. On returning to the bike, I found a guy taking a very close look. Nothing strange about it, the trike does tend to draw attention, especially if folk haven't seen one before.

He introduced himself as Ian, a fellow cyclist, and working in the field of sports medicine. Ian mentioned that while he was at college, he had started a program to provide "bicycles for everyone" in conjunction with Peter of The Bicycle Man. Ian is still working on the program and getting some solid riding/training in, all while building his career. Kudos Ian!

Around 1pm, going through the Freeport section of the trail, I saw a pop-up kitchen/restaurant next to the trail. I realized I was hungry, and decided to stop and see if there was anything GF for me. I went in and asked the chef/owner about any GF possibilities. He just shook his head, and said sorry, no. As I turned to leave, he stopped me, saying that he would see what he could do. Before long I was eating a delicious meal - really good pulled pork, and Mexican corn meal. And I do mean really good! I took the leftovers with me for dinner.

It was surprising how many folk were out on the trail, even on the quiet sections between towns. It seems everyone was out there enjoying the good weather after all the storms.

Bridges crossing the canal

The different styles of bridges across the canal I found interesting
