Today I left the coastline to go North East and join the road going to St Augustine, which is my final destination.
The day started cloudy, with rain expected in the afternoon. I was about 20 miles from Crestview when the rain started. Not one of those big storms, but a gentle, soaking rain that continued for the remainder of the ride, so by the time I reached Crestview, it looked as though I had just come out of a shower.
I managed to find accommodation at a place called 'Motel Hilton'. When I saw the name, I wondered whether the Hilton franchise was aware of this namesake.
The owner there was very helpful and got me set up quickly so I could get myself dried and warm. He has hosted several Southern Tier riders and tries to help as much as possible.
