Last night, with the information I had available, I decided to follow the alternate route, as I couldn't find a better solution.
So today started by following the directions for the alternate route. I got to a point where the GPS told me to turn down a road that doesn't exist, and (I later discovered) has never existed. As you already know I have had several GPS "issues" this trip!
As I was riding around trying to figure out where to go, I saw a guy and his family in their garden. I stopped and asked the guy, Johnathan, who was setting up Christmas decor in the garden with his wife and kids if he could help me with directions.
When he saw where the detour took me, he advised against it, as the area is very dangerous. After talking to him about different options which included getting a tow truck to take me to the Bay St. Louis turnoff on the I10, he offered to take me. We got there within 10 minutes of leaving his house. I am EXTREMELY thankful Johnathan.
I am now very glad to be back on track, and very happy to be riding along the coastline.

Good Night
I am glad to see that you found a ride across the Pearl river(s) and avoided that long detour up to Bogalusa! I was wondering how that was going to work out for you. -Randy
