I was thrilled to find there was a trail to ride on. It started about 100 yards from where I was located, right on the riverfront. What a pleasure; good surface, and hardly any other cyclists or joggers. This allowed me to get a few pictures on the way out.
Unfortunately, just after the 15-mile marker, the bike path was closed off. My American Cycling Association map indicated no interruption, so I switched to Apple Maps. What a nice surprise - unlike Google Maps, it didn't send me on a wild goose chase, but instead figured out the quickest and simplest way to get back on the path.
I arrived in Burnside in time to watch the sunset - what an amazing sight!
