I took a rest day yesterday to sort my shoes and trike and to have a break from riding in the scorching heat. I thought today might be cooler, but no such luck; the temperature reached 122F (50C) with an average of 104F (40C).
I biked through the Imperial Valley, an incredible irrigated agricultural area, with agricultural support services.
I ended the day in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreational Area / Glamis. I stopped at the store for something cold to drink. The proprietor suggested that I camp on the covered deck in the frontal area of the store, as it would be better and safer, and she stated: "You won't be the first, or the last to do that". She was extremely generous, refusing to allow me to pay for water or ice.
This is an interesting area. Tourists flock here in winter - dune riding and sand surfing are a very big deal.
