I am still on the farm roads which is nice in the sense that the traffic is not as bad as the other roads, but the disadvantage is that these roads are not as well maintained.
Riding into Mamou at the end of the day, I was distracted and rode past the Inn I wanted to check into for the night. I decided on the Inn last night, as there are no campsites or RV parks here. I stopped in a care facility car park to check my map, and the next minute I had a nurse standing next to me checking to see whether I was OK.
She laughed when I said: "Yes, I'm OK, but I'll be even better if I can find the Inn". She started giving me directions to the Inn when another nurse joined us and mentioned that the Inn may not be open, and she suggested I carry on through to the next town where the probability of accommodation is much higher. She was correct - the Inn was closed so I continued cycling and eventually ended up in Ville Platte.
