Day 46 - RAA Sect 6 - July 27th

Yankton, SD to Sioux City, IA

Second day in a row that a truck driver waved and greeted me on the road. I reckon that they are more relaxed on these less busy roads.

I got photos on the GoPro of a farmyard fence made of old bicycles. Amazingly good job! It would be interesting to know how many bikes it took to make the fence, and also how long it took to source them.

I found myself in three states today - South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska. Every time I crossed a state line, the GPS voice would say " Welcome to ..". I had to cross the river a few times, and every time I crossed, I was welcomed. It was most amusing.

Saw a few unique cabins at Sioux City's Scenic Park RV Campground. After my experience in the wild storm, I paid more attention to the weather. If it didn't look promising (like today) I asked whether there were cabins available. Typically the cabins are very basic; you still need your camping equipment for the night. They are usually one roomed, with two or three wooden bunks, maybe a small table, but always at least one chair. They are great for protection against the elements.

This site had three cabins available. I selected one based on the description the lady at the office gave me. I was stunned when I saw the cabins. They were all designed and built quite a few years back for a competition between local universities for qualification to the national competition for modern, efficient, and functional small home designs using sustainable resources. The perfect place for me!

Yes I know, another picture of an old car, but I do like them
