Day 42 - Sat, Nov 16 - New Waverly to Goodrich (Texas)

I was treated to an amazing view when I came over the last hill of the day. The trees seemed to frame Lake Livingstone at the bottom of the hill as I rolled on and into Goodrich. Absolutely stunning!

When I got to Goodrich, I couldn't find any form of accommodation - not even a campsite. Unfortunately, the sun was setting already, so I didn't have enough time to cycle to the next town. I decided to start looking for a public sports field where I could pitch a tent.

As I was cruising along, I passed a fully staffed fire station. That triggered a memory of somebody telling me that fire departments would assist wherever possible. I can now confirm that is true - fortunately for me! They didn't have a spare bunk available, but they were able to provide me with a safe spot to camp on the property and give me access to ablutions, water, and electricity.

They came around in the morning to make sure I was OK and said goodbye before they started the day.

So BIG thank you to our first responders.
