Day 40 - Thu, Nov 14 - Burton to Navasota (Texas)

The most interesting part of today's ride was discovering the place where Baylor University was established in 1846.

This location was only for the female students, the men attended at a different location a few miles away.

The images that look like smoke stacks, were actually the main entrance to the lady's dormitories. The arch in that wall was where the main entrance was situated. Some of the older historical buildings on the site are still in private use after some restoration work.

When I pulled up at the site, I noticed there was a motorcyclist who was on his phone.

I started taking photos, and when he finished his call he greeted me and started telling me about the history of the town, and the area.

Turns out he was born and raised in the area, moved to a bigger town for work, but still rides around on his bike visiting the area. He explained that even though he visits this area often, he loves riding and covers all of Texas during his travels. His parting comment to me was that we both like cycling, he just prefers his bike to be self-propelled.
