Medora, ND to Hebron, ND
The day started off pretty early in the camp with a fire alarm. Fortunately I was already on my first cup of coffee, so all good. It took about 45 min for the officials to find the problem, and let us all return to rooms, cabins, and tents.
Once on the road, I noticed oil fields where the crude oil is being extracted by surface pumps. I’ve only ever seen this in movies and pictures, so for me it was great to see reasonably up close. I do find it pretty interesting that there is crude oil being extracted, a big wind farm (not sure who owns the turbines), and massive solar array at the ranch buildings.
It was dang hot again today. According to my Wahoo, it hit 104F (40C) at mile 61. No wonder I feel so drained. Anyway, all in all another great day ending Section 4 and starting Section 5 of my journey. I will now be heading north to Washburn, then south to Bismarck, and on to South Dakota.
Pumping the crude oil - low volume compared to others I saw later
